The guy behind Cheesy Simulations.

I’m Daniel Fürnkäß (intl.: Fuernkaess). I started texturing back in 2009, using the label „Cheese-Strike Repaints“ for my early work. This „brand“ slowly developed into what it now is: Cheesy Simulations.

As of user feedback, my repaints are among the most detailed and accurate available. Reworking and maxing out the boundries and limits of texture design and visuals is my passion. Highly detailed and complex study sim aircraft reqiure the most ridiculously detailed liveries to enhance the immersion even more!

I met many developers and people keen on aviation over the past years along my way and made many new friends with this hobby. This is not my job, I’m doing all of this in my spare time.

Over the past years I’ve worked togehter with many developers . Being a former texture artist with Project Airbus, the head of the Basler BT-67 Development Team or a part of the Orbx and 29Palms Beta Team. Apart from that PMDG picked me to join their GFO Painter Team earlier in 2020.

The „Cheesy“ Technology

My liveries use a unique technology which combines photography and hand-painted textures to create highly accurate and immersive visuals. Regarding the high attention to detail, creation of one livery can take up to 100+ hours. This includes spending many hours in research and studying of the real aircraft and its unique bits and pieces. These then get worked into my custom paintkits and find their way onto the livery.

Key differences from default paintkit liveries are:

  • Hand-crafted base paintkit reworked from scratch.
  • Unique textures based on photography.
  • Custom cockpit and interior.
  • Custom details, paneling and weathering on all textures.
  • Custom reflection and bump mapping covering different materials, colors and parts of the airplane.
